This thread may bomb, but I figure it's worth a shot.  I imagine some privacy hounds may not want to play along and that's fine, but I was thinking that a lot of us have become regulars and we really don't know much about each other so I'm going to come up with a few questions and my answers, and we'll see what happens from there.  This is my 100th post so I figured I'd get a little crazy with it.

1. My name really is Jason
2. just turned 33
3. I tear down old buildings for a living.
4. Weight loss.  I'm down almost 30 lbs since Feb 1st and am in the process of totally reinventing the way I eat/exercise.
5. '03 Dodge Dakota.  Also have a '92 F150 that I'd like to get running again.
6. I have a Stihl 029 FarmBoss, a Poulan WildThing, and a goofy little Homelite arborist's chainsaw that I can't seem to     find  parts for.
7. Married for almost 2 years to a great girl who hunts, fishes, and farms, and we have an 8 month old son, Wyatt.

Not a bad idea Jason.  I don't worry much about who knows what about me in the negative sense, but ya never know what knowing the positive about someone might  lead to.  Here goes:

1.  My name is Mark
2.  I will be 47 on the 28th of March (oh joy!)
3.  I worked for an aluminum smelter/fabrication plant for 16 years, then left to start a new career as a residential contractor.  Good move!
4   I like to hunt, camp, and work on old cars.  Current project is a 1953 Chevy 2 door Pro Street,,,,,lowered and tubbed.
5.  I drive a 1992 F150 4X4,,, 300 6cyl. with 210K miles and still not using oil.
6.  I have a Stilh 290 Farm Boss with an 18" bar, and a small Homelite XL12 with a 12" bar  for limbing.
7.  I married for my second time 7 years ago last week.  Great lady, works the farm, and  works beside me in construction.  Kills her share of deer too. (Our
     primary meat)  I have a 27 year old son that is a minister, a 14 year old stepdaughter that ALWAYS gets her deer, and 2 grandchildren.

Good idea Jason.  I visit 7 forums multiple times a day and the members sometimes feel like my second family.

Willy-are you one of those high steel guys?  I was a sheet metal worker for a while (hated it) and I watched those guys work...I have a healthy respect for you guys. iron workers always have the reputation of being the nut cases on the jobsite.

well the "nut case" trait has diminnished over the years..the safety men have seen to that..100 percent tie off and no climbing colums or riding the ball anymore

and  at 54 i have wormed my way up the ladder enough that i no longer have to 'walk the iron"

but yes i was one of them in years gone by

Willie-I work for a gvt subcontractor.  We have to be tied off at anything greater than six feet.  A couple of our guys are doing an inspection of a three foot (not a typo) deep pit tomorrow and they have to put up fall protection railings.

rosscommon..you mean the car plant?..if so..yes many times but not for a long while...i used to hit all the shutdowns there..the las big one i was on was for cambell cox in the  80's i think it was...major change over to the grand marqies

jason most places i work have also adapted the 6 foot rule and in a pit.... if the pit is greater than 4 feet deep we have to be tied off to a rescue line and have an outside man as the trench will be classified as a confined space due to a lot of gasses in the chemical plants being heavier than air

Yes I put the robotic glass decking cell in over Christmas break then stayed for 2 months in London
babysitting the new cell,shut the plant down a couple of times when the robots went down,white shirts everywhere.
Worked for ABB at the time.
Started detailing after that,now proudly have red iron in my blood.
Do allot of plant rework so I know how good iron workers can be.
I do most of my detailing for Dobson Industrial. Union shop have there own erection crew.
Do you work for a fabricator or erector?

i have always been in the erection crews but did spend a year in a shop that used the same men in the feild as in the shop (all union)
i have been welder, connector, layout man, punk that went to the coffee wagon, bolt painter, foreman, general foreman,a nd job super and will tell you that a good detailer in the iron business is a God send (along with good fabricator)
