I'm 51.  This is my second season and hopefully many more.  I love coming home to warm house and not hear the oil furnace running.  Roger

I'm 60 years old on my 5th year with my Empyre OWB. Just retired after 42 years in a steel mill so cutting wood is not  so much a chore when you have the time.  I enjoy every day now!

46 and on my third year.  We had an indoor wood furnace as a kid, this aint new to me.  Used to hate it, but now like getting to the woods and running the saw.  I still hate spliiting and stacking, but hate payments to someone else to heat the homestead even worse.  My step dad is 72 and we still cut together all the time.  I hope I hold out at least that long.  I hope to teach the 4 year old how cool the woods can be and how it can benefit her, just like grandpa did for me.

oldghenowth, very similar to you here. My dad is 83  and goes to the woods with me everytime. I also have a 4 year old (boy) that loves hanging out at the farm and going to the woods.

I am 26, first OWB.

Grew up with an indoor wood furnace and spent every summer helping my dad cut, split, and stack and then every day after school in the winter hauled a load or two of wood into the house.  Didn't mind the work and love the free heat!  My OWB was already here when i bought this house (although it needed a decent amount of work to be functional again) and was a big plus for me in my home purchase decision.  I will do it as long as I live here and am able : ).  If i move i will install another one if possible : )

I'm 28. This is my 2nd season with my OWB. But I guess for 28 years of my life I never remember not having wood heat. After living with it all my life its just life to me I've never known anything else. I remember before my grandpa passed away, him my uncle (dad to me) and myself all went to the woods together it was times like that in life I wouldnt trade for anything. But as grandpa got older he couldnt do as much but I was getting older and could help more. Now my uncle is getting to the age that he can still do it but he needs to pace himself and stop and rest some but the 12 year old grand son is getting to the point where he can help more. So as far as how long I'm gonna burn wood untill I die if I've taught my kids what I was taught.

36 here, 2nd season with my OWB and LOVE it!  I cut trees and sell wood on the side so its perfect for me.  I now have a place to get rid of unwanted pine for free (turning it into heat in my house makes me smile ear to ear) and all the uglies that comes from selling 60-70 cords a year.  I plan on doing it as long as my body holds out but as a back up plan, I know I can easily pick up more than enough pine cut and stacked along the road to keep it going.  Would just need to hire someone to load the truck for me as I drive around and scrounge.

37 sometimes I think how easy it would be to have a condo someplace, no wood to split, land to keep up with man I would have a lot of free time, I would probably go crazy. FYI I just picked up a allmand backhoe I am gonna dig a crap load of useless holes in the woods Saturday

49 and newbie to OWBs.   Just moved out to a place with some land and burned a fireplace insert last winter and although it cut my heating bills some I didn't like how the living room was nice and warm but the rest of the house was like a meat locker.   Plus the mess and smoke in the house and having to load the small firebox every few hours I thought it was time to do it right.  I also like cutting wood and have plenty of it as I am surrounded by woods.  But I may need to find some buddies who like to cut, split, and drink too as I will need to do more to keep up with the new beast...

50 years young. I'm on my 6th winter of heating with my Woodmaster 3300. Plan on burning wood till I see those "perily gates". Regret I didn't start earlier.
