You are so right about keeping chains sharp. One of my friends at work has spent roughly the same amount of time cutting wood this year as I have, but I have nearly twice the amount of wood. We both bought our 310 Stihl's 4 years ago, and he is on his second bar already,and I believe his 4th or 5th chain. I'm on my second chain, but my bar hasn't flipped over, let alone been replaced. Taking a file to the woods is just as important to me as fuel and oil. I have an old 4" vise mounted to a receiver(waist high) that holds my saw for sharpening. I've had it for almost 30 years now. Man, I'm getting old!

Bought a 420 dolmar few months ago to use for limbing, really like it, they are smooth running saws.
I agree a sharp chain makes all the difference. I usually take a spare chain or to with me. Sharpen when i get several that need sharpening.

love the sthils,   041av ,041av,041av,048av,031av,084av, Husky 372 and a old MCc, 125c  and a few more porjects,   the old stihls last forever,   if you need parts Ebay has more than you could ever need when they break.   Don't let the new shiney plastic fool you , the old ones are better built and will last you till you die if taken care of!!!!!!!!!!

Didnt check every post, but did not notice many Jonsered saws listed.  I do my big work with a Jon 2171, Medium work/most work with Jon 2065 and Husq 359, keep a Husq 51 as a backup/light work saw.  Love em all

cut all my firewood with a husqvarna 372 xp,used to have a stihl 066 sold it to a loggerand picked up this husky love it.

  I prefer to use the saw that works. Really, I use stihl mostly. I do have an ole mac that I use when others need attention.

16" Husqvarna 51.  Cut 10 cords of firewood per year since it was new.

I use a Husqvarna Rancher 55 20" Bar.

Works great, have owned for almost 2 years. Have cut down, upwards of a 100 trees; maples, oaks, locust, pines.

Have owned sears and other husqvarnas.

This is the best by far.  Highly recommend.

husky 365 20 and 28 inch bar and for the big boys i have 3120 husky with a 36 inch bar dont want to lug this around the woods lol.

I use the Husky 359 with a 20 in bar. Picking up a 24 in bar today to cut some bigger logs.  It sucks having to cut down both sides of a 2 ft log with a 20 in bar knowing your saw will handle a 2ft bar.

I have always said there is nothing more enjoyable that operating a sharp well running saw BUT there is also nothing more frustrating than operating a dull poor running saw.   Keep up on the maintenace especially the chain sharpening.

Stihl 028 Super Woodboss ... or something like that since 1990/  I chose it because of the nice calendars Stihl used to give.  It has treated me so good that my new blower and weed wacker are STihl also.
