Gotta say I'm looking forward to this heating season more than ever..... I've got a lot going on and I'm going to be implementing some new stuff this year.
On the agenda: first of all, I'm going to re plumb my plumbing in my crawl space, yea, kinda boring...
Then I'm going to be installing a temperature monitor system which will give me real time data of temp and delta xt's across each exchanger that will be accessible on my phone or anywhere I can access the Internet. Gonna love that, thanks to RSI!!!
Second, new pump experiment. Electric use on the pumps is something many ignore but being a efficiency nut and having solar power, I decided to go after the most efficient I can. I'll be installing a Taco Bumblee! How it works!! It has 2 temp sensors, one on supply other on return, when the delta t is minimal, the pump knows there is no heat load and slows down to as low as 9 watts of power draw, as soon as I start pulling heat, it increased speed to keep the delta t inside the parameters that I have set, get it? Cool huh
Best of all, this pump will only pull 40 watts on high. Will it be more efficient in wood usage too?? We shall see, let's face it, ALL underground pipe loses some heat, if I send less btu through the pipe on average, will that mean less btu lost, I hope so
Third. Proformer, I've sold quite a bit of this and folks tell me it's good stuff even though I've yet to use it, it's not ashtrol and sure as hell ain't lime. This product is said to put a coating on the steel, especially if used since new, and it also adjusts ph of the ash bed as well, you add a little spoon full a day on top of your wood. What will this do? Hopefully it will keep the firebox cleaner, the flues cleaner, which will make everything more efficient!!!
4th, a new stove, going to be testing what could become a new model of stove. I'm not ready to tell what it is or anything like that, but will just say its something I'm really excited about. If things pan out over the winter and the company allows me to talk about it I will, but I'm absolutely thrilled going into this winter, I absolutely love outdoor wood furnaces and everything that's involved with them. Hard to tell that huh?!
