Yeah its deer season. I only shoot one if its wounded and ventures into the yard. They come in the yard every night and can get pretty damn close to the house.

I got the exact same rain gage as you lol..Nice pic of the deer..Is it deer season out where you live?

I have the same rain gauge too, but there is no pole blocking mine if the rain is coming from that direction.  Put it where the top is open and exposed and they'll be much more accurate.

I've been thinking about getting a cap as well, where would be best place to get one for my stove, and would I have to get an extention as well or just put cap on my stove as is? This time of year when stove isn't running as much (in my area anyway) it seems like rain would be getting in pipe more.

How about how dag gone goofy it looks to see a bucket hanging on a stove pipe???

A lot of folks would rather let there stove get wet inside as to look at that

ive never had an issue with a cap
Maybe to you it does.. Doesn't mean the guys that use the bucket feel that way..I doubt they rather let rain get in there stove.. It's called laziness..

That's not what I mean.  A lot of jobs we do folks try to make this blend into there landscape as much as possible and are obviously very picky about how things look.  They spend a few thousand extra on concrete, wood storage sheds, and finish it out nicely.  Those are the customers who are gonna throw a fit at the mention of a bucket hanging on there stove pipe all summer, seen it happen before.

I am almost that bad as I couldn't stand the thoughts of wood laying around on my property uncovered or not under roof and stacked accordingly.  It would drive me bonkers to do like some folks and have random piles of wood sitting on the ground by my stove lol
