One of the towns that was hit here in illinois is about 60 miles north of me.   That storm went just north of us and then continued on.   I watched it as it went by and it looked pretty wicked.   We had minimal damage here.   So far I've heard the death toll is 6.  6 is 6 too many but from the looks of the videos and pictures it looks like it could have been much worse.

A woman I work with has a cousin that was babysitting two little girls at the time the storm went through.   They didn't have anywhere to go for cover so he just laid on top of them while the house was completely destroyed.  Crazy.

I worked in Gifford, IL this morning taking a large uprooted tree off of the phone company communications building and the town looks just like you see it on the news. The town is closed with roadblocks unless you live or work there. The news tonight said 20 homes completely  destroyed.

Yes that same storm touched down by me because we have some of Washington's mail in Coal City/Diamond IL

I'm two miles straight east of there and watched it go by out my crawl space vent.  I hope I don't see one again I know that we didn't get the devastation that Washington got but we have a lot of people's house's that are unlivable right now and some completely gone.

God Bless and stay strong

Jack

I live outside of Lafayette IN and my kids's schools were damaged in a big way.  They are being relocated to nearby schools for probably the rest of the school year.  Its a good thing it happend on a Sunday cause my seventh grader said he would of been in the gym at the time it was blowed in.  Very scary.
