This past summer was spent building my home made boiler and I can honestly say I couldn't have spent my time better.  If it wasn't for all the post on here I could never have begun to attempt this project.  This is my first post on this site but I have spent countless hours researching on here.  Scott, you have some of the best advice and I thank you for posting your knowledge on here for people like me to learn.  This site is unbelievable for the amount of information a person can attain.  I live in Montana so the temps can get pretty cold.  I have had the boiler running for 6 weeks now and have not burned a bit of propane.  Last year my propane bill was over $3000 and from the looks of it this year it should be around the $0 mark.  I just want to thank all of you for that.  I am still trying to learn a few tricks of the thing but everything is working great.  The wife is happy and has the temps in the house at 73.  It is a little hot for me but a happy wife makes for a happy life.  Thanks again for all the help on this site, and it feals good to make the propane company mad

Due to where I live in the country, (NH) I had to purchase an EPA compliant Gasser.  But, I echo the sentiment; the willingness of people to selflessly share their knowledge with others' is a wonderful thing.  When I first put my OWB online (this is my 3rd season heating with it) I ran into some bumps but these kind people were willing offer me their experiences, what worked for them and how I was able to adapt them to my situation made my life easier.

welcome to the site......I love hearing about home made boiler as well....post some pics in the home made forum on here and tell us about it.......I know you guys get cold there also......my uncle has ranches in graycliff, Mt ....

Talk about home- made, I just visited a man in his early 60's that is interested in one of our Enviro 500 wood chip boilers, he built his own wood chip boiler 19 years ago, it is still running, 0 smoke, every part on it is salvaged, well almost, I think he did use new plywood to build the bin/hopper 19 years ago, very simple construction, very very impressive home build, OH I forgot to mention he owns a working sawmill that HE built, he likes to build things, what a great guy to get to know. I sure wish I could figure out how to load the bit of film I took, those of you who like to build stuff would be inspired, not sure if I should post it anyway, it's not OSHA and EPA approved, he probably employs 50 plus people, they would shut him down if they knew what an entrpenure he is.
