converting garage heater (hanging oil to air) to wood burner
« on: November 27, 2013, 10:30:21 AM »

I am going to be doing some digging from house to my 4-5 bay garage (due to septic issues). Currently my garage has a commercial grade hanging oil to forced air unit (186, 000 btu).  I would like to convert this to the wood stove for heat...but not sure if there is a way to convert the unit itself...or should I just get a new unit like this ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/300590530187 ).   I dont know if I will do converting right away, but since I am digging a ditch, I figured I should least run the pipes.

For the piping I was looking at this http://www.ebay.com/itm/250748766468

Any thoughts and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I built my heaters out of a 22x22 water to air heat exchanger Ebay , 210.00 , a fan from amazon , 58,00 and a thermostat from Amazon 35.00

built a frame with 2 2x12 top and bottom and  4 2x4 sides , works great , I have about 300 bucks in it , works great , I program the thermostat on what temps i want it at and it comes on and of by itself, it also give you the ability to set it warmer during the day or vise versa

For piping look up Scott7M here on the forum and get some Logstor from him well worth the money.  Just make sure you have good help when you put it in it's a bear to work with.
