 Hello everyone, I'm new to forum and i was looking to buy an OWB. i shortlisted heatmaster and CB. as i live in Indiana and have to follow the EPA II guidelines the only heatmaster i can buy are the G100 and the G200, my dealer has neither sold any or has info on either of them. Now I'm leaning towards a E1450. i have heard the pros and cons of this particular model but price wise they are way too expensive as compared to classic models and don't know if they are going to last that long to give my ROI. Do you think $16K for a fully installed E1450 by the dealer is reasonable or is it way too high? According to my calculations to recuperate $16K i'll have to use it at least 10 yrs trouble free and that sounds a bit too long. Any inputs and any help on this topic will be greatly appreciated.

My opinion your already spending a lot of money on the stove to through another 4 grand on the install is a lot of money   
  How much underground pex will you need?
with the pex and clamping procedure out these days it's really not that bad on install it's not a walk in the park but it wasn't that bad.   I don't know your age but the trenching was the worst of the job but I went a 100ft maybe your not that far.   My only other thought don't start now I would do in spring time or summer because frozen ground and dealing with weather/snow etc. especially in Indiana.   if you PM me I can give my number and be glad to talk to you more in detail about things    Where at in Indiana?  I live in Illinois  but work in Whiting IN right now

holy smokes that's a lot of money.

I deliver wood to a guy with an E1450.  He says he wishes he would have installed a classic style boiler instead of the gasser.  He used to have a classic (non gasser) before buying this E1450 so he has a good comparison. It uses almost as much wood and is a PITA to clean.

I realize that a non gasser may not be an option for you so I would definitely shop around.    Portage and Main and Empyre have gassers that have more heat exchange area than a E1450 and less complicated controls.  Plus how could an install cost that much? Its pretty easy to do.
