It's been below average up here in the wilderness of Maine. It's 4 out right now and the high today was 11.

It's supposed to be -5 tonite and 5 or 6 tomorrow.

I can also see my wood pile shrinking much faster than I thought it would.

Time to head out back and cut some yellow birch. I've got some monsters out there. They burn pretty damn good actually. Even green.

Swede, with temps like that how much wood do you have to load and how many hours are you going?

At dark around 5 I fill it full.  Go out at first light around 7 and add wood in the morning.  It goes through alot of wood at these temps

I really know nothing about the Dahl except for the info on the front of the stove... And the fact that it's burning a ton of wood.. But hey its —38c and my house is warm..

Roger, OWB is doing fine, just likes the wood at these temps. Loaded 5 pieces for a 12 hour run last night and came out after 14 hours and had a few coals left in the bottom. Water temp was at 138*. I usually can get by on 3-3.5 pieces per load this time of year. Hopefully we have some warmer than usual temps later in the year to make up for this.

Hondaracer2004 just curious how big  are your pieces? and what kind of load is your stove provinging? I know you have and older house but I thinink Im puttung to much wood in mine. And when you come out to fill it what is your water temp at that point? thanks
