How far should you go?
« on: December 23, 2013, 10:26:49 PM »

I was driving back roads today checking the carnage from the ice storm.  I came around the corner and saw an owb "STEAMING LIKE A LOCOMOTIVE".  And it wasn't coming out of the smoke stack.  I turned around and pulled in the driveway, nobody around and clearly no power at any of the near houses.  I looked at the owb door and it looked shut so I knocked on the door, nothing.  Walked to the barn, nothing.  Walked back to the owb, checked the door and it was shut tight, no lights working on it.
I don't know anyone living in that area so I had to just get in my truck and leave, it was hard to do.

Thats why we build them non pressurized, it won't hurt the boiler or catch anything on fire, THANK YOU for stopping to check.

I drove by one near Petrolia for a few weeks and every once in awhile I would notice it steaming like that too. I was always going to stop in and just ask the guy why it was doing that but never did. It looks kind of like mine but I've never seen mine steam from the fill hole before so I wondered. Would he be running it that hot that it would overheat on a regular basis? Looked to be only heating a small house and maybe a garage so no real big heat draw.

Happened to me last night, almost had a meltdown. I went out at 9 pm to fill the cb 5036 for the night and the  digital display said 203 degrees . I had it set for 180 degrees. Solenoid on the natural draft was stuck wide open . Turned on the heat in the garage and in the house to try to get the temp down at the owb. Put WD 40 on the slides of the draft and its back in operation. Water level didnt change much either.  :o
