Anybody know of a good place to get fan blowers? Mine makes some unusual noise every so often. I want to get a backup but the one that is on it now it $170 it is a dayton 1/30hp. Not sure of exact model. Looking for one a little better priced.

If your housing and squirrel cage is still OK, you could just replace the motor, that should cost you less.  I would check ebay and Amazon if you can find the model number. 

Grainger.com has a lot of Dayton stuff, but they are known for their in-stock and quick shipping, but won't be the least expensive!  They also have stores all across the country so you might be able to walk in if you live close to one.

The housing and cage still look good. It seems to be working reel good it seems to be making a rattling noise.

The fan assembly is bolted to the stove.  The blower housing is either spot welded, or more likely bolted to the blower motor.  Other than those two connections, the only other thing I can think of checking is the set screw(s) in the squirrel cage to blower motor shaft connection.  If that is loose, eventually it can start letting the fan slip on the shaft which will cut down/eliminate your blower capacity.  If you have a damper/solenoid setup, the connections there could rattle when the fan was running.  Those would be the first places to check for a rattle noise in my opinion.

I went out a bit ago and the dampner solenoid was open which pulls the dampner on the blower but the blower was not working, I tapped on the blower and it started running. I went ahead and ordered a new blower and solenoid.  I hope it comes tomorrow or friday at the latest. It always happens at the worst times. We are suppose to see negative temps friday so this should be fun!!

You said you tapped on the blower (I'm assuming the motor)  and it started working.  I would check for lose or corroded wires.  I work on a lot of motors and have never had one that I could tap on and it started working.  Catch it while it is working and see if you can get it to stop working by wiggling the wires and see if that is the problem.

I looked for bad wires. The fan itself is making a god awful rattling noise. Then the motor itself seems to get binded up. It doesnt seem to be producing air movement like it once did. Hope UPS can deliver this new one really quick!

Did you ever oil your motor? If not, make sure to oil it every month or so.

Yeah but it doesnt look like previous owner did. I always did though. I had to leave work early tonight I guess it stopped working. I had to smack it with a hammer to get it to spin. The fan blades spin freely its the motor itself that is getting stuck. Im pulling an all nighter it looks like to make sure its going to work when it needs to. What if I spray some wd40 in the motor itself? Good or bad idea?

Dave, if you use WD40, follow up with non detergent 20wt. oil.  3 in 1 in the blue can is designed for electric motors (the red label stuff has the wrong additives)

My blower should be hear tomorrow. Are these blowers model specific? There are a few dealers not hardy dealers that have blowers. Im waiting on someone to contact me here, he said he might have a blower but hes not a hardy dealer?

Dave, a quick internet search indicates H4 and H5 use the same blower(120 CFM) and OEM has damper attached.  Apparently H2, H3, and H6 use a different blower.  Do a search, it's all there.

I finally found one. Had to drive 45min 1 way to get it in the snow storm we are getting. Well worth it though. Its like I just won the lottery!
