PELLET USE MAXIM 250
« on: January 28, 2014, 12:00:22 PM »

I am looking at buying a maxim 250 to heat my 3000 sq foot home. Does anyone know how many tones these things go through just heating the home and not the hot water in a winter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Luke

Greatly depends on how well your home is insulated.

I know of some folks who have homes well insulate around 2400 sq ft and they burn 7-8 tons per winter

Pellets are good but unless your making your own pellets your still tied to a market, it to will go up with other forms of energy

Is there something that can be purchased to make my own pellets?

Yea just research pellet mills

You can make pellets out of a lot of different stuff

Scott's right! My neighbor up the street catches all the chips that come off my saw bar on my firewood processor, grinds them up and makes his own pellets. Also makes them from tree service wood chips as well as alfalfa waste. Takes him a while because he bought a real small grinder and mill, but it works for him.

What's burn back?

Fire travels up hopper tube and burns it all up
