How old is your boiler without welding?
« on: January 30, 2014, 09:28:03 AM »

For those researching boilers to make a decision, lets help them out.

Everybody wants a good deal.  My definition of a good deal definitely includes longevity.  So, can we have members state what boiler they have and how long they have owned it WITHOUT WELDING.

Electrical parts are exempt: pumps, aquastats, blowers, ect.

I know there are some great stories on here, lets put them together. Please no "I know a guy" stories.  Personal experience only.

So, I'll go first, Natures' Comfort gt-220...3 years old, no welding yet.  I know... lame.

My H2 Hardy I gave to my daughter and son in law last  year has ran for 17 years.  I switched to a H4 in the new house, I think my brother in law is at 20 or 21 years on his H2 across the pasture from me.

sorry I will break the rules here a bit,,not my stove, but    3 ,P&M boilers,,within 25 miles from here,,still have that old round roof,,I stopped in to talk with the fellows,,,they never had a prob,,except motor blower,,they want to quit using it,,not beacause they don't like it,,but too old to pitch wood.. 1983 and 1985 models
maybe they had better steel back then,,,all I thought was   """WOW"""

I never keep a boiler long enough to matter but ive done service calls on many different brands that were 15-20 years old.  A lot of companies havent been around long enough to be competitive in this debate though.  Woodmaster, cemtral, hardy, should easily win this debate based on volume of stoves and them being the oldest companies
