Are there different Pex-Al-Pex Brands?
« on: February 24, 2014, 03:42:21 PM »

Want to know if there are different Pex-Al-Pex brands now a days (non insulated). Will be abandoning my 14 year old under ground lines for new lines this summer for a new P&M furnace that I will be ordering this spring. My old P-A-P was made by Kitec at the time of install, which now I understand Kitec sold out.

Yes there are at least 2 different pex al pex manufacturers that I am aware of, I have used both, one is from Badger that has a slightly larger inside diameter than the one that Brian gets in Canada, they look exactly the same but the pipe needs to be expanded slightly in order to accept the fittings from Badger. There are also other manufacturers such as Roth and Vega that are available at local supply houses, they tend to be a bit more expensive and require special fittings as well as crimping tools, on the good side of those they are a bit easier to work with and are not that annoying orange pipe that stands out like a sore thumb,( hard to make it look good )

Rick Davis is a great guy as well, I,m not a big proponent of his underground pipe but EVERYTHING else he sells is fine and he stands behind it as well as ships same day, He will always answer your phone call period.

Is this something to stay away from, including their fittings, for underground lines from OWF to your house?
