Portage and Main
« on: March 06, 2014, 06:51:14 PM »

Not that it's a great big deal but I spoke with Brian this morning and we agree that we would like to track any residual sales from this forum, in order to accurately track it, starting today we will offer a $100 discount on the purchase price of your P+M boiler for simply letting us know that first you read and comment here as well as give us your feedback on our presence. I personally would like to thank the moderators for allowing those of us who do promote our products here to do so without any pressure to advertise, I know of no other forum that allows it! I think having a company rep to answer questions about their products is very important, Thank you all again!

While not really wanting a $100 discount or any freebies, I will add a statement that this forum, OWFI.com, is where I have learned much about Portage & Main boilers.  I have "watched" a very high level of customer support by slimjim and several others (competing companies' representatives) within this forum (before, during, and after I actually purchased a Portage & Main BL series boiler).  I can positively say that the level of "internet support" I have read about on these forums contributed to my selection of a Portage & Main unit.  I expect no lesser level of support in the future and can write this post with nearly no reservation.  Thank you and I look forward to installing and firing up my P&M Ultimizer in the nearing weeks.  -Scott K.

He said something about that, have they posted something on the website? They handle that part, I don't think I've been on the website in 6 months, I'm way to busy and having far to much fun to check up on them, I know I'm not going to win, I do a really nice job out in the field but here at home there never seems to be enough time to make it look nice, Have you ever noticed that the best mechanics always seem to drive the piece of crap pickup truck or the electrician is running his house with extension cords ( that's Me.

More than once to be honest. Something else I've noticed, some of the better mechanics I know are staying away from the new diesels with all that emissions crap on them.

PROUD OWNER of a 2000 F-250 with the 7.3 liter diesel, with about 300,000 miles of VERY heavy hauling, had to add 2 extra leaves in the back, dually add ons and Timbren rubber bump stops to handle my show trailer, registered for 26000 and I use every bit of it. It does not look like much but it always gets me home. Besides it sort of fits my Image, Old ,Tired and Rusty!

After my Aqua-Therm took a pee three weeks ago, I have been on OWF Info forum everyday learning what is now available these days for OWB's. Last time I searched for information for outdoor furnaces was 14 years ago.

Thanks to this SUPER fourm, I had made a comfortable decision on purchasing Portage & Main BL-2840 a few days ago. I'll be making my payment next Tuesday to Dave Jacoby from Strawbale Farms, who I met at a P&M exhibit in Eau Claire WI, who was showing the furnace. Dave is a very nice guy, glad I got him for a dealer!

Dave is going to be exhibiting the P&M furnaces again at the Eau Claire Indoor Sports Center in Eau Claire, WI on 14-16 of March.

I have to say, Thanks to slim, for mentioning Dave to me & to the posters on this forum. I plan to be with this forum for the long haul, gathering new found tidbits every time I hop aboard.

Hey slim, you mentioned something about spraying the boiler down once I'm done using it in the spring to help prevent corrosion. I was thinking you could post the process you use on here for some of us newbies.  What do ya think?

Sure Randy, great Idea, this may not work in the minds of some but this is what I like to do with mine.  Let the boiler cool off when you are done, clean it out the best you can, vacuuming is a bit eccentric but clean it out, then spray a liberal ( God i really dislike that word) coat of transmission oil over any exposed steel, tubes included ( if your sprayer will not do straight transmission oil then try cutting it with about 10 % heating oil or diesel fuel) , good on the steel, get a water sample by opening the drain on the bottom of the unit, let a gallon or so run and then rinse your sample bottle with the drain water, take a sample( 8 - 12 ounces and send it in to corporate, they will record your sample and let you know how much approved treatment to add.
