I have been wondering if there will be a chance of any boiler maker meeting the phase 2 emissions with a conventional or a non gasser. I try to keep wood dry but like this year I ran out of dry and have had to burn green. I have been wondering about the heiss boilers but not sure about the service being 3.5 hrs away from them,. I also have ridgewood about 3 hrs away. he has pretty decent prices on boilers. I live in the thumb of mich near port huron if anyone has a good suggestion.

Most likely not but anyway phase II is about to be a thing of the past. When these new regs go in even some phase II furnaces will not pass. Of course there is still time for them to change the proposed regs. Who knows the EPA may see the error of their ways and embrace wood burning altogether.

The heatmor 200 CSS that Roxann has had so much trouble with is a non gasser EPA phase 2 boiler.

Every manufacturer has their problem units, I think that there were 2 issues with the boiler at Roxanns place, first problem was control issues (electronics ) and the second was the dealer not training the customer about what to expect and how to correct the issues that will come up.

I'm not real impressed with my current heatmor. I would like to get something better but not sure if I want a gasification boiler.

:post: Just saying, that is a very remote possibility. I mean the Russians could attack us or something and it would suddenly become patriotic to be self sufficient. Or aliens could land and take over the EPA. But baring some such thing we are all screwed.  :bag: :bag: lol

What would be an half way efficient conventional boiler to look for.

That's a loaded question,  without bashing anybodies product I will say that you should compare all the units represented on this forum, I certainly would hope that you take a good look at our Portage and Main, B-L series brick lined  sectional and available with shaker grates for coal burning as an option

Who says they haven't taken over the EPA, as well as the Supreme Court, the media and most of congress?

You have 2 issues, one is operation and the other is combustion.

My Propane Boiler vents in plastic and modulates, only burns at high efficiency when needed.

The closest you could get to that would be using pellets or chips.

With logs that is simply not possible, any system that allows wood to smolder can not meet emissions.

I have a friend with a CB and a small hotel, I think his puts out about 200,000 btu's and is run pretty much flat out, he has a 400,000 btu gas boiler that picks up the slack.

The local fire station has a much bigger CB with I am sure a much lower peak load and that does smoke, fortunately it is outside of town and the prevailing wind blows the other way.

I know of no way of burning wood efficiently at low temperatures, anybody who comes up with one could make their fortune.

Is there any wood boiler that has second burn tubes in the top of the wood boiler like the small indoor wood stoves or does in not work in such a large fire box to burn the gasses like in a small indoor stove.
