Yes he can drive Randy, he does make me a bit nervous though, he's a good driver but I like to be in control of the truck for the same reason I choose not to fly any more than I have to! I just ran out to town for a pack of butts and was stopped by our local Gestapo, 4:30 AM, they have nothing better to do than harass the locals on the way to work, I had a plate light out, 20 minutes in the parking lot for him to decide that I was not a terrorist or drunk, man oh man don't I hate those dam spotlights behind me

I'm looking at plumbing plans for the installation. one of Central's plans that closely matches mine has a thermostatic valve in the supply and return lines from OWB before it even gets to the water heater or the water to water heat exchanger. Is this necessary on most installs? What does it do?

Can someone post a link to what unions you'd use on the water heater and on the heat exchanger.

Randy, I was in my wife's Minivan, she will not allow Political rants posted on it( perhaps a good thing, some times you like to fly under the radar if you know what I mean). hr200x, No it is not necessary but check your warranty, There is a much better way but they may void the warranty if you don't use the mixing valve, fittings like copper unions are available in all sizes at any good plumbing supply house.

HRC200x. I have a CB and my best understanding in that the thermostatic valve is used to help prevent shocking the boiler.  The thermostatic valve works in 3 stages:
1) Water temp below 140f from boiler is retured to boielr to be reheat
2) Water temp between 140-165f, some water is let thru to HX and some returned to boiler
3) Water temp above 165f, water goes straight thru thermostatic to HX
**If this is grossly misstated I apologize, but if I remember correctly this is how it works

What fittings and type of pipe should be used on the back of the boiler? It came with fittings to use pex right off the back of it, but the pump is going to be out there so seems like copper is the way to go to help support the weight of the pump?

Copper isn't bad just make sure you insulate once complete; otherwise mechanical room might get a bit warmer than expected

You guys have any pictures handy of the backs of your boilers? I'd like to "T" into the lines and plug one of them incase I ever put up a garage.

NOTE, see the strap on aqua stat and 60 minute timer, the aqua stat kills the blower below 160 degrees protecting the temp of the ceramics by not bringing in cold air when you run out of wood and the timer is wired in parallel to the aqua stat to bypass it on fire up, I also added a separate outlet powered by the red wire on 12-3 wire with a separate breaker, this helps in servicing the unit as well as giving the option of separate lighting and such.
