Nervous
« on: November 07, 2014, 02:19:00 PM »

Wet grain is full so I need to let the dryer run for about 6 hours before I start combining corn again so I lit the first fire in the BL 2840. Now I sit and worry about it. Sure hope all is set up properly. It's been burning for an hour now and the smoke has cleared up, cardboard is all burned and the wood is burning. Water temp is already up to 120.

Sounds like things are going just fine..  It's takes mine a few hours to get all that water warmed up to the desired temp...

What is you're corn coming out of the field at? Here anywhere from 32% down to 22%. Really need to get the 32% picked as much as I hate to as that's my beef cows winter pasture. Been so wet here we just added another 20 yards of railroad stone to the cow lane and it's still a muddy mess.

Corn is anywhere from 15 to 18 moisture and yields are averaging 204. I put a lot of 18 in the wet bin the last 2 days because, like you, the cows need to be on some stalks now.
ATV, hamburger 85% at 3.85/pound. Beef is high because cattle herd is short across entire US. Pork is high (I don't have any prices for you but it's high) because of the disease that hit the farrowing houses last spring.

2840 is doing what it is supposed to do. House is warm, shop is warm, hot water is HOT. Going to get in the combine and get another 8000 bushels tonight and then take a nap in my warm house. Hope the house is still warm in the morning!

We put some 14% beans in the bin, most have been 12-13% but it's getting rarer to have any decent weather to cut em in. Knocked out 73 acres the other day in three different fields miles apart. Rare morning, was cutting by 10am, had all the trucks full after Cargill closed so couldn't move on to another field at 7:30 that night.
