Extra fan controls added. FYI
« on: November 12, 2014, 09:46:15 AM »

I was going to post in Electronics but thought here might be better. Some of our readers might be interested and want to add this to their furnace as I did. I'm not sure how all furnaces are set up but I have a Wooddoctor WD 8000. This is for the fire box fan and the heat exchanger fans in my shops that I heat. I may leave home for a day or two at a time and that means no wood is being fired in the furnace. Since there is no need to run any of these fans with no heat in the water, I've added fan controls in series with the 120VAC thermostats on the heat exchangers. I used standard stack controls that are used on any forced air furnace. I also added a resettable timer on the fire box fan to shut it down. This one is adjustable from 0-360 minutes. They have been working very well for 4 years now. Maybe this will help someone in need of such controls.
Thanks,
Darrel

I was thinking about this to ....the fires out and the fans are blowing cold air into the fire box ...doing nobody any good.

That's what I thought. I do need to come up with a timer or install a relay for the door draft solenoid. My timer on the door fan won't work with a solenoid. Always something to tinker with!!!
