Need everyone's opinion, homemade OWB
« on: November 19, 2014, 08:09:54 AM »

Ok guys, not looking to get bashed.  Just finished my homemade OWB and installed it.  Did homemade direct burial line and everything.  over 180' I have 3 degrees lost on the supply.  Please check out the pictures and let me know your thoughts.  There is still time to make changes.  The concept is simple.  3' firebox and ' water jacket.  Firebox has big combustion blower on the back with a damper and there is an ash tray also which seems to be working out great.  Air is blown up through a custom made grate into the wood and out the exhaust.  Any and all advice or tips and things that need changed would be great to hear.  just a guy with some steel that can weld with an imagination.  Thanks!

With enough steel and imagination, anything can be built.

Looks good, I am impressed with anyone that can put one together. Is your firebox square or round?

That's a great looking design!  I like the small footprint it appears to make.  Care to share the dimensions?  What size house are you heating with it?

Mine is a homemade job, but it is two oil tanks all done up like yours there sort of.  I think the water take is far to large and the firebox as well.  It is about 5 years old and at that time I thought the bigger the tank/firebox the better... I now realize that is not the case.
