Hi all, my wall hung Myson lo-line 19-15 convector is about to kick the bucket; it's about 20 years old. The convector gives out approx. 10,000Btu's. The motor/fan assembly is squealing real bad and I'm afraid it will fail and parts are no longer available. I'm going to try to nurse it through this heating season by oiling it and see what happens. This unit is on it's own zone; it's in my kitchen. Again, this house is very old and there is no way of installing an under cabinet heater. So, I was thinking perhaps of installing a radiator or 2 in this kitchen. It's approx. 400sqft with low ceilings (around 7ft high). I know absolutely nothing of installing a radiator like the old steam ones we had when I was growing up (err, getting older...no one told me I had to grow up). What's involved? What do I need to know before tackling a project like this? I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty.
The way the kitchen is constructed is there are 3 doors to the kitchen; one from the dining room, one from a cold space leading out to a shed area and the other is the main entrance leading outside (dang cold space). I'd like to have one at each of the doors where cold air inevitably leaks through. As stated this kitchen is approx. 400sqft. All assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Roger
