Looking to buy a gassifacation wood burner
« on: March 06, 2015, 07:25:30 PM »

Hello hope someone could guide me in the right direction for a burner. I am looking at a Heatmaster G100 or 200 and CB 1450. I am heating 3500 with water. Heatmaster dealer said I would be ok with g100 but I am thinking  g200. Also I live in central North Carolina what kind of wood usage will I see with these burners annually. I have a tight house built in 2008. Thanks.

A better indication of what size boiler to get would be three years worth of heating bills. A house built in 2008 in the Carolinas has a lower heating requirement than the identical house in Minnesota.

I know I average 350 monthly electric bill for last year. My cold months run 370-450.

I also maybe buying some wood to burn. I heat now with heat pumps and we stay chilly. And it's hard to heat a high ceiling living room with loft area.

You should total up what you use and factor in any additional load for the future, don't forget hot water, then base your boiler on that demand, given what you are saying you might be working the 100 pretty hard.

In our experience, the G100 is pretty small, but the G 200 would be an excellent choice. If you'd like to talk to someone who has one, PM blueclearsky.
