Cleaning with cardboard
« on: June 01, 2015, 06:31:38 PM »

How are you doing this?
Just throw a bunch of cardboard in and let it burn up or are youadding cardboard and keeping itgoing for some period of time?

I just tore up about a dozen smallishboxes and burnt them and after they burnt up I checked and it really didn't do a hole lot!

Try collapsing the boxes so they are flat and then fill the firebox completely full and let er' rip.  Depending on how thick the creosote is on the firebox, you might need to scrape it with a putty knife after the cardboard is gone.

Instead of cardboard I keep a supply of popcorn fart dry wood around, like old pallets or something. Let the water temp get down, then burn those pallets up, if it didn’t come off after that it ain’t worth worrying about.

Just burnt a huge load of scrap  from a cabinet shop. Didn`t really see a difference. Cardboard doesn't seem to do much either.
