Just flushed the heat exchanger
« on: September 13, 2015, 03:21:53 PM »

Well I gave the heat exchanger a good flushing today with a drill pump and a couple of washing machine hoses. I used a gallon of clr. Wow amazing how much crap that stuff will remove... Did each side of the plate exchanger 2 or 3times...nasty ... Thanks big wood for the suggestion on using the drill pump very easy job..

When I flushed my Hx this spring I too was surprised by amount the junk that came out of it.  My biggest surprised was the amount of junk that came out of the pressurized side in the house.  I guess it confirms that I'm doing something right regarding the water treatment I'm using. The non-pressurized side (OWB side) was nice and clean.  Roger

Do you have 1" inputs on your plate exchanger?  I was wondering how you plumbed that to make it work with a drill pump...pics?

Also, off of this topic, the formatting of the forum is really weird...is anyone else seeing this?

Inlet and outlet on both sides of the plate exchanger have shut offs with garden hose fittings along with isolation valves on all four so I can completely separate the exchanger from the system to service it or even remove it if it need be.

I wonder if it is browser-related?  Using Chrome here, may try something else and see if it helps.

I have to admit I can't take the credit for the plumbing on my system slim Jim did it. The guy is a true craftsman anyone who has one of his installs will agree. Thank you again slim for convincing me to spend a little extra it sure is worth it now three years later..

It's not quite as bad but I am seeing most of the same issues using Internet Explorer.
