Played out in the shop today.
« on: January 29, 2011, 06:32:27 PM »

Ok I sold my snowmobile 2 weeks ago,and I took the cash and picked  up a winch for my truck.I wanted it to use to unload logs off my trailer, and perhaps move logs in the woods if I don't have the skidloader with me.
So I was going to make a new winch bumper for the truck, but I don't have the materials all rounded up for that.I also needed to have it on the truck for tomorrow in case I need it.So I made a temporary mount for it for now,and will build a nice bumper later.I put a set of mounts low on the winch mount to attach a 5/8" shackle to either side.Tucks up real nice to the bumper.I like how it turned out for something I just threw together and put on for now.
This is a 13K winch I picked up at Greg Smith Equipment for $475.Has a wireless remote ,and the standard corded remote. It also came with the mounting channel that it is bolted on to also.
Now this is no Warn,Ramsey,or Superwinch ,but it will do what I want to do.
I really like the wireless remote. That will be really handy if I am by myself using it to drag logs off the trailer.

Just lookin around on the site and came across this.  Looks pretty good.  It also looks like theres a nice place to step on for working on the truck.   I have a winch bumper that I bought for my truck, just nave not put a winch in it yet.   How is that Greg Smith unit working,  I looked at them a while back.

Good price for a 13k. Nice job.
