TriSodium Phosphate
« on: October 01, 2016, 03:03:48 AM »

Hi all - My younger brother and I was going through our barn looking for some old lumber we want to reclaim when we can across a bit of over 100 pounds of TriSodium Phosphate.  My dad used to it back years ago when we had milking cows to clean the milking machines.  I want to get rid of the in an environmentally safe manner.  Non of the farms (family farms) in our area don't use the stuff.  So I'm looking for advice on how to safely get rid of it.  Thanks - Roger

Check with your local transfer station, I know around here they have " hazardous waste" days.
Clean Harbors maybe?
Safety Kleen?

I think mixing it with baking soda neutralizes it

Can it be broken into small packages and given away? Is it still usable? I don't remember the name of the company but we had a water treatment company come in because We had a large Molding machine with a clogged heat exchanger and one of the things they pumped in was TSP.

I guess I should updated this post - Shortly after I posted looking for assistance, our transfer station said they would take care of it for us.  How?, I do not know and I really don't care.   ;D  Thanks for the input everyone.  Roger
