You won't have a problem with a 77cc engine, if I'm not mistaken husky claims 4.9hp on that saw? a 20" chain won't be a problem because that saw can turn 28" with a 3/8" . My pops runs his saw with a .404 sprocket/chain and swears by it. He says it takes a lot more saw to pull it but still runs 404 on everything. It holds an edge much longer and it is way more chain for an extra few dollars. Hit a rock with a 3/8 hard enough, and it is junk. He sharpens my chains as well and tells me I should go this route but I'm more of a "this is what it came with" kinda guy. Plus for the 100+ it would cost me to swap it out my saw cuts good and my chains are always sharp
Just so you know your dad's right. It works way better chips everywhere. Also you can push on it and chips don't go under chain like 3/8 chain . Chain cleans chips way better. And I noticed also I need to use a 8 tooth because rpm wise I'm still low with the 7 tooth
8 tooth is on order. I have no idea why people dont use .404 more
It's way better then 3/8 chain . It cut just as fast as 8 tooth 3/8 chain . And I had .404 7 tooth so 8 tooth on .404 will be perfect . I also got a .404 .063 20 inch full skip chain to try yet . I'm totally happy with .404 it will be on the saw from now on . Mandatory.
It's well worth extra cash. If you shop online it's almost same as 3/8.
I cut mostly oak.. saw bit over 5.7 HP but I don't know if it 6 HP..
If you get the chain running inside power band window it's unstoppable. I'm going to be mad the day 77 wears out it will get a glass box in the shop. Best saw I ever owned. 👍

When I get the 8 tooth sprocket on I will make video and post it . Because on other wood forums they really don't know what there talking about . Most guys think 3/8 cuts better then .404 and .404 was only for the old saws . Thats all because they never used .404 and they just don't know . Blocking oak its the power house .. If you cant pull .404 use 3/8 but anything over 70 cc should be able to pull a 20 inch you can always raise raker to .025 instead of the .030 . But remember I have older sweden saw
there might be differences in newer plastic saws That I don't know about .
