Let me introduce myself
« on: February 20, 2017, 09:12:25 PM »

Hello, name is Mike, live in Milwaukee Metro area and have a home in north central Idaho.  Installed a CB 5036 late last year on the Idaho property to heat the house and guest house cabana, about 2000 sq. ft. in total.  House is a 1300 sq. ft manufacutred unit a year old, is heated very nicely with 35' of base board, cabana has 3 rooms, kitchen laundry and sitting room and a small fruit cellar, laundry over fruit cellar has floor heat (hydronic lines under the floor using aluminum snap plates, kitchen has base boards and sitting room has heated concrete floor.
Like many locations we had a unusually large snow fall and below normal temps for December and January, I greatly enjoyed learning about the operation of the boiler and got many good tips from this forum.  My experience with the CB 5036 has been all positive so far, however I invested in a 10 X 20 slab with metal roof cover to minimize weather effects on the boiler and wood supply.
I'd like to share some good fortune I had when it came to the subject of heat transfer fluid options.
I do not live full time in Idaho and there are times the system will be dormant in below freezing weather, the obvious solution was to use propylene glycol suitable for boiler use.  My system used 220 gallons to fill, performance was very satisfactory, boiler was set @ 185, never got below 174 or above 192 as the vent door cycled.
I have 750 gallons excess to my needs, set @ minus 10 f for 5 dollars a gallon, available in 55 gallon plastic drums.
I'm not a dealer or attempting establish an on going enterprise, I'm a retired business owner who has some nice connections.  I offer this product to the community for my cost.
