cant anyone tell me a bit about these stoves? it is a Wood Doctor outdoor hot water wood furnace, Model# WDGS70, wood-boiler/ converter/ gasification, heats up to 10,000 sq. ft. It is on auction by my house....it has never been used. never even installed....i know WD went down in a blaze of glory....i have a few friends whom have their traditional models and although not to efficient they seems to do the trick....never heard much on their Gasification Models tho. If anyone could give me any insight that would be greatly appreciated. Im in no need of a new stove, but if i can pick it up for cheap, i just may. How much would you pay for it??

thanks!

Plumbing / thank god for inline temp gauges
« on: December 01, 2015, 05:07:35 AM »
SO i took some advice and put some sharkbite temp gauges on the boiler, house and shop to get an accurate reading of the water temp. I was previously having some issues with everything being off about 10°. I thought that the aquastat was way off, turns out that the aquastat and the water temp leaving and returning to the boiler are almost spot on. When aquastat shuts down at 185, it will creep to about 190 (as pictured), shop reads 190, house feed reads 190, house return read 190 and boiler return reads 188-190. SO this clears up a lot for me....turns out the boiler temp gauge on the front of the unit is about 5-7 degrees off, which is no big deal....now i can make adjustments accordingly based on line temps!!! YAHOO!

Heatmor / Wood stacking in the Heatmor
« on: November 22, 2015, 07:00:28 AM »
I found this on another forum and I tried it out....wow is all can say.....stacking 2 splits the long way leaving a 4-6 in "tunnel" between them, then stacking slits from front to back sideways. Making sure that no wood is touching the sides of the firebox.... It creates an inferno with wood being completed engulfed in flames and much high heat transfer

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Differential settings in mild weather
« on: November 17, 2015, 09:22:56 AM »
What is a good differential setting during mild weather? Is it better to tighten the differential to 5° so the boiler fires more often? Or stretch it to 15° so when it does fire it burns hotter and longer????? I have my heatmor set right now at 175-185.

Thanks

Plumbing / proper brazed plate sizing
« on: November 09, 2015, 05:50:09 AM »
the interior plumbing to my OWB set-up was done before i bought the home. i have a 100,000 btu Utica gas fired boiler that heats my 1,400 sqft home via radiant baseboard heat on two zones. The heat from the OWB to the Indoor boiler is transferred through a 40 plate exchanger. since everything else has been a mess with this original set-up, i figured i would check and see if that is the right size plate???? Any insight would be great!!! i just want to make sure everything is set-up the way it is suppose to be.

thanks

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Need some input...what would you do???
« on: November 03, 2015, 05:01:43 AM »
I am losing 4° from my OWB to my house on a 75 ft run....so thats 8° total loss as the water is circulating. The old lines are a cheap 3 wrap in a 4 inch tile....lines are also buried 4ft according to the old owner....I am a dumbass and should have replaced the lines BEFORE i installed my new Heatmor in August...but, i didnt. SO, now i am faced with running new lines (which will be LOGSTOR). My concern is trying to dig under the pad and run new lines up without cracking the cement....what would you guys do??? any tips???? suggestions??? how many BTUs am i losing with that kind of temp drop in water??? should i just cut extra wood???? I feel like crap after spending all that money and time on a beautiful stove and install just to have something stupid like this kill my efficiency..... :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Plumbing / Logstor dealers in Michigan???????????????????????????????
« on: October 19, 2015, 05:41:10 AM »
Anyone know where i can Find Logstor pipe in Michigan?????? I have been looking and calling all over....trying NOT to have to pay ridiculous shipping. There is a CB dealer about 30 min away where i can get thermopex, but i would prefer to get logstor if i can find it some what close.

The original 3 wrap pex that was in the ground when i moved into this place is losing 5 degrees from the boiler to the house......no good!!!!

THANKS

Heatmor / Heatmor Owners....i need some guidance
« on: October 14, 2015, 02:56:29 AM »
So the new 400 dcss is up and running...so far so good except for one issue:

The aquastat is set at 165-180 (factory set)....when the aquastat shuts the stove down at 180, the temp gauge on the front is only readying 170ish. My line temp gauges are also confirming this. I have tried tweaking with it over and over and havent gotten anywhere really.
I took the probe for the aquastat and the temp gauge out and covered them with the conductive goop so hope to get better thermocoupling. that didnt change much either.....i did notice however if i keep the rear access panel door open, the temp gauge does ready almost 180 when it shuts down.
Could it be that there is too much heat in the rear access panel when the door is shut?? causing the aquastat to shut down early??? i want my temps to stay b/w 165-180, i dont want to run my boiler cold. we all know that is no good. i have tried tweaking with the aquastat differential and set point, but it ALWAYS seems to shut down early (according to the temp gauge on the front).
Has anyone tried putting a digital aquastat in??? like a ranco?

Maybe this will all take care of itself when the cold cold weather really hits????

Sorry for all the questions....just throwing everything out in hopes that someone may have experienced the same thing and can point me in the way of a solution!!!

THANKS,

DYLAN
