door solenoid
« on: November 03, 2013, 02:31:50 PM »

I have a ridge wood stove. i looked out the window and seen steam coming out.
so i run out there and the damper door is stuck open. it got up to 212 but i didn't lose all the water but this has me worried. should i be spraying some wd40 on that solenoid? has anyone had this happened to anyone else?

Spray it with some oil and manually work it up and down and spray it again

I had a heatmaster overheating due to a solenoid that had some surface rust on it the other day, cleaned it and it fixed it

WD-40 will help right away but it will promote rust in the very near future, my advice would be wd-40 for now and when you get it freed up use a few drops of automatic transmission oil or maybe even gun oil if you are one of us crazy gun owners. The stuff stays very slippery for a long time in the weather and has anti corrosive stuff already in it.
