system setup

Does anyone see a problem with the having my system set up like this. Water in from boiler to sidearm on dhw then to a gas water heater(storagetank) the back to the boiler i did notice that when my floor heat turns on i will some times be returning 140-150 to the boiler. The floor heat pulls from the gas storage tank from hot and cold outlets the boile is tapped into the relief and drain outlets.

What are the entering temps from the boiler start at? If they come in at 180 and drop to 140-150 that is to much of a heat drop I believe. When I was putting my system together I believe the ideal drop is right about 20 degrees. If you are having a greater drop than that you need to move the water faster through the system.

Understand that what you have just created is a buffering tank and not a heat exchanger

yes i have a buffer tank also would be used as a backup if nessasary  i have a 20 degree drop though my floor loops but when they kick in my tank drops  dramaticly for a short time

Yes and all the ports on the tank are 3/4 inch with only thermal siphon on the sidearm to produce the heat or is there a coil in the gas fired water heater

the tank has four opening so  the floor pump runs though two and the owb pump runs thru the other two   the side are is on my dhw

When you say returns of 140 -150 to the boiler, you are talking about the returns from the radiant to the tank and not the diff on the boiler loop

Thats return to the boiler which gives me about 30 drop at boiler
